Through AMCA the Certification is called MCBC. This is a Billing & Coding Certification so you would be certified in both roles. You don't have to get Certified, but it's highly recommended. Some employers won't give you a chance without a certification, so that's why it's recommended. Medical Billing & Coding is a big industry and it's growing so job search shouldn't be an issue. Healthcare will always be around because it's always needed so billers will always be needed.You may land a position from home or a contract of your own and start your own business. It starts with 1 client and referrals. You can become very successful in this industry and the salaries can be very rewarding.
